Solar Water Pumps in Cape Town

Solar Water Pumps for Cape Town buyers

In Cape Town and across Western Cape, many properties rely on boreholes, and solar pumping can make sense where grid power is expensive or unreliable. Local suppliers know the water table, the borehole yield and the sunshine in your area, so they can size a pump to suit your property.

Want to know more first? Our solar water pumps guide covers the options, what to check and what affects the price.

Solar in Cape Town

Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate with long, sunny, dry summers and wetter, cloudier winters, so solar output peaks in the warm months and dips in winter. The City of Cape Town supplies most of the metro and requires small-scale embedded generation to be registered and approved, with only approved inverters and installers accepted for grid-tied and hybrid systems. The south-easter wind, salt air on the Atlantic Seaboard and corrosion near the coast demand engineered mounting and marine-grade fittings. Roofs include tile, IBR, slate and flat concrete in apartment blocks, and heritage or body-corporate rules affect some properties. Hybrid backup, solar geysers and commercial rooftops are very popular.

Typical solar water pumps requests in the area come from:

• Family homes: a small solar pump filling a garden tank from a borehole to save municipal water
• Estate homes: a solar borehole feeding common-area irrigation and water features, often with panels hidden behind landscaping
• Townhouses and flats: a shared borehole pump for communal gardens, run from panels on a carport or meter-room roof
• Shops, offices and schools: a pump supplying a nursery, lodge, car wash or school borehole during daylight working hours
• Factories and warehouses: larger solar pumping for process water, dust suppression or fire-water tanks at a plant or mine
• Farms, smallholdings and lodges: a solar borehole pump filling livestock troughs and irrigation dams far from any power line

Why get a quote in Cape Town first?

Prices for solar water pumps in Cape Town depend on the make and rating, quantities, stock levels, the exchange rate and delivery distance. A quote based on your details is the quickest way to know what you will pay, and it shows what is included before anything is ordered.

What to include in your request

• Borehole depth and water level
